The lull

Last night, DD was like a cluster of tornadoes, creating havoc very quickly through out the house. In quick succession, she dumped two baskets and a bucket of toys in the living room, played with them for about 5 minutes. Then she moved into the kitchen and dumped her toy shopping cart full of more stuff.

She was about the open a box of puzzle that was in the cart when I said, “Wait! You need to go pick up the toys in the living room before you start playing here.” Her response? “OK.” She ran into the living room, picked up ALL of her toys and ran back into the kitchen. As she was about to settle down with her puzzle, she looked up at me and said, “See, mommy? I’m a great listener.”

This should have been a 30 to 45 minutes drawn out process involving copious amount of tears, whining, pouting, running away and sentences like “No you do it” and a final cry for help to “Grandma! Grandma!” (No, she does not live with us.)

Well, we must be in a lull phase, the in-between period between her mood swings. These small pockets of time that I live for and that which keeps me sane through the rough times. They come and disappear without warning and don’t last long, but they are so worth it! She has been so cute the past two days.
