So you know I’ve been running and while I’m doing really well distance wise, going from running 4 miles to being able to do 8, I haven’t been really able to run any faster. I run around 10 minutes per mile pace. Yeah I ran the 5K last month at 9:30 pace, but I thought it could be a fluke or that is the fastest I can run.
I ran a local 5 Miles Turkey Trot today and I ran it in 45:26:02!!!!! I know that’s probably meaningless to non runners. I ran it on an average of 9:05 minutes per mile. Actually, I know at one point I ran it even faster because I ran the first two miles at around 9:30.
I could tell I was running faster and I was trying to slow down because I was worried I wouldn’t be able to finish strong. But then two ladies from my running group caught up to me and they were going pretty fast. And then they were like let’s catch up to this other group member a little ahead of us. And then it was like 1 mile left and we just booked it and ta-da!
I’m SO excited. I honestly never thought I could improve my time any further. Also, I ran this same race 8 years ago when I was in my early 30’s and ran it in a little over 50 minutes. To run it faster now when I’m older is even more amazing to me.
I have to give a shout out to the MRTT running group where I live. It’s all thanks to them!
